CROSSWICKS, NJ -
The Crosswicks Community House will be undergoing major construction in the coming months.
The downstairs meeting room will be getting new carpeting and tile covering the whole floor, in addition to the building getting many improvements in disabled accessibility.
-Installation of a 2-story, 3-stop lift with a landing & new stairs in meeting room
-Construction of a new accessible restroom with alcove entrance
-Installation of an automatic fire alarm system throughout the building
The House has made these changes sensitive to the historical features of the building, saying that the outside "...appearance of the historical building is preserved... [and the] [l]ift will be located at the site of the original interior staircase." In addition, no windows or original doorways need to be changed in the construction.
