CHESTERFIELD, NJ -
Chesterfield Township, NJ Officials have constructed a resolution opposing the proposed New Jersey Natural Gas transmission pipeline, which would begin in Chesterfield Township, run past McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, and end in Ocean County.
The Township is opposing the construction of the pipeline, as it will not provide natural gas service to the township, as it is just a transmission line. Also, long-term construction along Route 528 would interfere with school bus routes and access to residences and businesses.
Finally, the Township takes notice of the proximity of the line to "...nationally registered historic properties...creating a potentially devastating situation in the event of a ruptured pipeline."
