CHESTERFIELD Twp MAYOR RICHARD LoCASCIO:Old Chesterfield Elementary | File photo
WBNC spoke with Chesterfield Township Mayor LoCascio and he has confirmed to us that Chesterfield Township Elementary School, located on Chesterfield-Crosswicks Road, has been sold by the Board of Education to a Turkish-American school.
The Board of Education holds the title to that property, so the Township nor the Township Committee will be overseeing the transaction.
Reported, but not confirmed, is that the Turkish school purchasing will have a 60-day waiting period to change their mind and back out of the deal if they so choose. WBNC does not know when that 60 day period started.
What do you think about this new development in the story of our school? We've heard from a lot of people today that this is good news; that it won't be an empty building any longer. Please leave your comments below this story!
