CHESTERFIELD, NJ -
After a long day of voting in Chesterfield Township, we still do not know who won the Chesterfield Twp Committee race.
Earlier today, we reported that due to a printing error, Burlington County was unable to scan mail-in absentee ballots. They immediately began counting them by hand, and got through 60% of the 19,000 ballots by 5:30pm, and ceased counting at 8pm Tuesday night. They will resume counting at 8am Wednesday morning.
Because of that printing error, in Chesterfield Township, there are 249 Absentee Ballots still to be hand-counted, and we don't know who won the Chesterfield Twp Committee Race. Here are the current numbers we have.
Andrea Katz: 1222
Rita Romeu: 1191
Ron Kolczynski: 1166
Alex Robotin: 995
Chesterfield Democrats posted this on their Facebook page tonight:
Needless to say, we (Andrea and Rita) are overwhelmed by the support of you, our Chesterfield community. We cannot thank each and every one of you enough for your support during this process and, most importantly, for your votes. And while we know that those results above may not be the final outcome, we know that we have built something here in Chesterfield and we will continue to fight for our community, win or lose. We will report back with the final results as soon as we hear back. Thanks again for your support!
On the Chesterfield School Board, Jignesh Shah and Terran Brown won. Shah had 929 votes, Brown had 1289 votes, with 348 write-ins.
For the presidential election, Trump had 1245 votes and Clinton had 891.
