Once torn down, the land that housed the township's elementary school between 1965 and Jan. 2011, about 38,670 square feet, is to be used to build the new township building.
The current Chesterfield Elementary School, which opened in January 2011 and currently educates over 700 students, cost the township $37.7 million to build, contributing to a increase of 8.6% in local taxes.
There is no number or plans made public by the township on the new building, or the use of the old twp building, nor is it on the agenda for upcoming meetings of either the Planning Board or Twp. Committee.
