CHESTERFIELD, NJ -
The following was posted on NextDoor by Det. Semus.
On December 6, 2016 at approximately 1:30 pm, Chesterfield Police were dispatched to a residence on WhitePine Road for a reported theft.
While on scene, it was reported by the elderly victim that a male subject (see composite sketch) identified himself as a Township employee and requested he be shown the property line at the rear of the property. The victim walked that subject to the rear of the property. Once far enough away from the residence the suspect utilized a radio to communicate with another suspect to enter the home.
The pictured suspect then fast paced walked back to the front of the property and entered a white work van and traveled towards Rt. 545. The proceeds from the burglary was money from 2 different bedrooms.
If anyone has any information regarding this incident or similar incidents is urged to contact Det. Semus at 609-291-0912 ext 40 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This type of burglary commonly targets the elderly and the suspects utilize a distraction from the resident inside or outside the residence while a second suspect then enters the residence.
Chesterfield Police urges all residents to request identification from anyone who claims to be conducting official business prior to exiting their homes or inviting someone into their home. If something appears to be suspicious please notify the police by dialing 9-1-1 rather than approaching the subjects immediately.
