TRENTON, NJ -
New Jersey lawmakers have sent Governor Chris Christie a new bill to consider. The bill has been voted on to raise the legal age to buy tobacco from 19 to 21.
Assemblyman Herb Conaway (D-7th from Delran) sponsors the bill and says the law would also apply to electronic cigarettes. Conaway is no stranger to Chesterfield Township, as he administered the Oath of Office to Andrea Katz on January 2nd.
Burlington County Times printed a quote from Conaway following Thursday's vote.
In January 2016, legislatures approved the law, but was rejected by Governor Chris Christie. Christie has not said publicly whether or not he will support this iteration of the bill.
